16.00€ incl. VAT
A medium-sized phasmid from Vietnam with a bright yellow warning color behind its head.
Origin: Vietnam, Kon Chu Rang NR
Size: females 9-10 cm, males around 5 cm
Breeding: We breed 2-3 pairs in a well-ventilated tank measuring 30 x 30 x 40 cm (L x W x H). The nutrient plant is Euonymus sp., whose cultivars are commonly used in ornamental plantings. Room temperature 20 – 24 ° C is completely satisfactory, humidity 70 – 80%. We dew the tank 2-3 times a week, but it must be dry before further dew. Small and slender males are almost permanently on the female, often two at the same time. Females stick eggs to the substrate in “ootheques” containing 30 or more eggs. The oothecum should be carefully cut out with a razor blade and incubated on moderately moist vermiculite. At a temperature of 20 – 24 ° C, 1.3 – 1.5 mm large bright red nymphs begin to hatch after 4 months. Hatchling takes place gradually over several days. Breeding on Euonymus is then very easy. Males mature after 3, females after 4 months.
